Program Description

Body

Notorious Pittsburgh is a collection of stories from Pittsburgh’s past. It includes stories about the first bank robbery, a famous jailbreak, as well as tales from the former red-light district and the prohibition era. Step back in time into the dark alleyways, back rooms, and boardrooms with author Chris Whitlatch as he discusses Pittsburgh’s seedier past. Hopes have been crushed. Fortunes gained. Lives celebrated while others were snuffed out too soon. In the shadows, where corners are cut, and ambition unchecked—that is where the notorious stories live.

Chris Whitlatch is an author, game creator, and nonprofit marketer, but likes best to be known as a storyteller. He has hosted walking tours in downtown Pittsburgh, telling stories of the Burg’s notorious past. He’s collected those stories, as well as a few more favorites into his book Notorious Pittsburgh. He has a journalism degree from New York University. He grew up in Southwestern Pennsylvania and returned to the area in 2000.
